Default Virgin connectivity problems - 04-05-08, 11:14 AM

Hi. I originally posted this on the "Broadband problems" page, with no response, so thought I'd try it here on the specifically Virgin page.

Two problems.

1. Very often I can't connect to perfectly normal sites (BBC, Google, Yahoo etc), then 5 minutes later I can. I never had that problem on NTL dial-up, so I assume it's the fault of Virgin broadband.

2. Sometimes 3 or 4 times a day Thunderbird forgets my password when I'm trying to send emails, and I have to feed it in manually -- a pain. I checked the cause of this. It happens because a "design feature" (i.e. bug) in the otherwise excellent Thunderbird means it can't cope with it trying to connect to a server if that server is down, so that when the server is back up it still can't connect. I'm hoping that Thunderbird will fix that bug -- but the problem is caused by Virgin broadband being so unreliable.

Anyone else met anything similar?

Im with tiscali and a while a go i couldnt connect to any website then 5 mins later it worked but after a while it went off,, i called there helpline said it was my fault, they always blame it on u, so i called again and told them its there fault and guess what it was they had a fault in my area, so i suggest just call virgin and tell them i can not connect to the internet [if u no for sure its not your fault just tell them then you wont have to put up with them telling you what to do] and hopefully it should be sorted in a few hours
