I have my broadband though an extension at the min and not gettin the best speeds (in peak times) but in off peak times thought my extension i am gettin max speed which i am paying for 2mb.
It is known for it to be faster from the directly from the wall socket but it will work either way but a faster speed might help you so go directly into the wall for fast speeds
