Angry Pipex homecall - 26-01-08, 07:21 PM

I get 2 meg plus first thing in the morning (05:30), but in the evening, if I get a signal at all, it's around 50 - 300 KBPS, often there's nothing.
It's painful watching the pages refresh.
I've been on to Pipex and been through a lot of dianostics, now they want to send a BT engineer round to check my line, but surely if I get 2 meg in the morning, it must simply be the number of people using the system at peask times is too much for the supply system?

Default i would agree - 30-01-08, 03:59 PM

I would agree the whole braband structure is going to collapse. There is a chap near me who is downloading illegal movies. Although i can't prove it im sure everytime he is doing this my boradband goes to a craw. i can acept the slow speed at night when there area lot of user but im really angry when this is going on during the day. BT has a lot to answer for not upgrading exchanges . when broadband went in here thewy only made provisions for around 300 user its currently sitting at around 700-800 users and growing all the time.

Your problems with Pipex may have something to do with Tiscali who now own pipex moving customers over to their platform - you can read more about it here Tiscali executes stealth LLU migrations - Yahoo! News UK

if it was me i would think about moving to another provider

Angry sick of Homecall (Pipex) - 07-02-08, 10:08 AM

Having seen the much cheaper package + up to 8 meg speed to new customers that I am on (as a 'valued' loyal customer) I contacted Homecall, who said I could go on the new package with new speed. So far, have been unable to connect now some 5/6 times! everytime I phone they say its to do with the upgrade. But I havent got an upgrade! still running at 1 mb. they now say its BT's fault, they have put new codes on the lines, without telling Homecall, but I should have my upgrade by end of month, that was January ! again couldnt connect last night, and this morning, but guess what, on phoning their operator, I got connected. ! He even suggested I 'migrate' way from them if I am not satisfied !! Oh plus they got my bill wrong. Should have had reduced rate, Nope, I got a bill much higher because they had made an error. If I move from them to another provider can anyone advise if I will still have same problem. i.e. poor speed. These companies all offer speeds of up to 8 meg. (although I have been advised I may only get up to 3 meg. due to distance from exchange) I feel they don't really care and are just fobbing me off. The operator this morning, told me to log everything, so they have a record of my complaints which will enable me to get out of the contract with them. Surely this is a case of 'not fit for purpose' anyway. Thank you for listening.

I have been a Pipex customer for over 6yrs and for the most time been very happy, I signed up for an upgrade in speed just under a years ago and was initially pleased. More recently, for 2 months or so, I noticed that they were traffic shaping / blocking certain types of traffic, namely p2p, but this was also affecting my connection for other programs such as IRC. I did complain and raise a ticket but tbh that was a waste of time as they just start from the beginning of a long list of procedures to test your connection and will not listen to the fact that someone may have experience in computers and networking.

Over the last week I have read with horror all the posts and accounts of Pipex customers being switched to the Tiscali network and down grades in speeds and service. I am hoping my current speed last till March when my contract will be up and I can move provider!

The traffic problems I have experienced have lessened recently but I really do not trust that they will not return.

Add to this the facet that I am paying more for this service than a lot of similar services on offer from other providers, including Tiscali themselves!

Shame on Pipex and Tiscali and I really think they will lose many customers.

Pipex are taking over alot of ISP's & in most cases making a total mess of things. They've taken Freedom2surf over not too long ago & since then they've gone down the toilet..

A BIG thanks to pipex for making such a MASSIVE mess of things!!

Jonny..
