PAYG in Italy and Greece

Please excuse me if I am asking some obvious questions here.

I have a boat in Italy, soon to be moved to Greece. I need internet for weather forecasts, email etc. so I am not a heavy user.

Other boat owners have told me about having bought modems which can be used in various countries, subject to buying and using a local PAYG card.

First question:
Is it just as simple as this?

Second question:
Will any 'unlocked' modem suffice?

Third question:
What should I consider when buying a modem for this purpose?

Any other advice will be appreciated.

I do belive it is as simple as that.

I think that you can also use, PAYG mobile broadband sim cards which you have brought in the uk for other countys, but they might charge you a higher rate.

The best thing to do is what you have said, juts buy a local PAYG sim card for each county, it should work.

Not sure if this helps, but I bought a PAYG from 3 in the UK and used it around the UK. I have been in Rome for the last 6 days and it works perfectly on 3Ita at 3.6Mbs with the same SIM I got back home. I would assume any European country with 3 coverage would also work.

Tbh i see there to be no problem using mobile broadband in other countrys, but im not sure about the charges in other countrys.
