Default Newbie but not stupid!! - 06-08-08, 04:23 PM

I am a newbie to mobile broadband but I reckon I have struck a good deal.

Before signing a contract I shopped around. Without a shadow of a doubt Vodafone is the best provider. There network is 7.2 mbps, all of the others are 3.6 mbps or 1.8 mbps.

I also note that many of them quote the speed of their modems and not the speed of there networks, this is obviously meant to mislead in my opinion.

And before anyone points it out, yes I know these max speeds are not possible in the real world but they are relative and therefore relevant.

So here is what I got. A 12 month contract, a free 7.2mbps modem and 3gb per month for £15 per month.

I think this is a good deal because they usually charge for the modem on 12 month contracts, or offer the 3.6 mbps modem free. This deal is not available from there website, but I telephoned them, told them I was torn between 02 and Vodaphone and they were happy to negotiate.

The Vodafone network is only 7.2 mbps in a few London N postcodes! everywhere else it is the same as the others up to 3.6 mps/ avarage 2.8 mps!!!

Not a bad price for Voda though! but could have got the same deal on other networks!

Talking .....but not stupid!! - 07-08-08, 10:10 PM

Then what exactly do you want? For everybody to say WOW - Thats great.
I think that anybody who signs up for a contract is stupid, but thats just me, if i want to download alot one month then i'd rather pay £25 for 7Gb rather than £75 which it will cost you (£15 3Gb + £15 per extra gig)

That Makes Sense, Some Months You Wont To Download More Than 3GB, And ThereFore Cheaper On PAYG.

No smartarse! I put it up so that anyone else looking for a good deal can approach Vodafone and ask for the same package. If its no use to you just ignore it.

Thers always one !!!
