Default Mobile Broadband WITHOUT a cap? - 16-07-08, 02:56 PM

Hi guys,

I've looked around and don't think it's actually possible, however I was wondering if anyone knows of a contract/deal that doesn't give a monthly use cap for mobile broadband? 1gig a month for £10 which IMO is almost stealing your money. The best I could find was 10gig for £30 a month. basically i'm in a newly build flat and can't get cable, installing a BT landline would cost me £130. Getting the inetrnet just seems very very pricey.

my monthly use would consist of xbox live/world of warcraft(big patches to d/l), I play quite often so it would be around 10 gig a month, and 30 pound a month for 10 gig is horrible.

I know mobile broadband isn't really meant for heavy use, however it still is at the moment the cheapest option for me. Will they be removing data caps in the near future, or at least making them sensible? any decent contracts out there? or if anyone knows of a company that can beat BTs awfull landline installation charge?(there damn landline is already there, socket in the wall, one in the living room the other in one bedroom, bt logo on the damn socket panel, yet they're going to charge me £130 to basicaly switch it on!)

Thanks for any help.

If you use xbox live alot, i would say it would be more than 10GB a month you use, and with mobile broadband i will doubt you will get a connection which be fast enough to cope with xbox live.

Im sure in the furture they will probley start having deals with no caps, but that wont be untill years to come, because at the min, if they had deals with no caps, then millions of people would go for mobile broadband, and the network would not be able to cope with the useage, and tbh i doubt they will even have deals with no caps ever for mobile broadband.

Well that certainly is a shame, I'll have to wait untill something reasonably priced comes along!

Three broadband have upped their contract caps, they're 1Gb for £10, 5Gb for £15 and 15Gb for £30. If you're an existing customer it's half price.
So if you can find yourself a 6 month contract mobile, then you qualify as an existing customer and then cancel the phone after 6 months and still get the broadband deal at half price.

If you sign a 12 month contract with BT for a basic line, they the installation charged is waived

This sounded too good to be true, so I called BT and asked.
They only waive this fee if you're currently a Virgin Media customer and only if you sign for an 18 month contract.

I dont see this happening any time soon. Even normal "unlimited" broadbands are capped. They have fair usage policies. If you want real unlimited internet, move to another country, like sweden.
