Default Can I use any 3 payg SIM for broadband? - 19-05-08, 10:36 AM

I got an unlocked Huawei E220 for broadband use away from home.

The 3 PAYG plan seems to be the best value for my anticipated usage but I'll need to get a SIM.

There are various 3 sim for sale on ebay, the standard PAYG ones are £1 while the ones that claim to be suitable for mobile broadband are £5.

Is there really any difference between them? From what I can gather I need to login to the my3 website and convert standard topups to mobile broadband topups anyway.

Thanks,
Peter

(Following up my own post above)

I went ahead and splashed out £1.20 on two '3' PAYG sims. These were not advertised as broadband ready and came subscribed to the default Flat 12 voice tariff.

Registered the phone number on the 'My3' website and topped up with £10 which after a few minutes was able to convert to the 'Mobile Broadband' addon.

Popped the sim in the modem and then after configuring the settings in the prefs panel, I was able to connect to a 3G data service.
