Very interested in getting it this and would to hear from other about what the coverage is etc

I have Web N Walk at the moment but I want something to use for my Laptop and that's Mac compatible.

So for £10 a month this seems like a great buy. anyone got any info?

I got the 3GB option almost a month ago now. It's much better than I expected, easily getting about 150kB/sec when using HSDPA. It's not perfect though, and for the past week I've had occasional problems using it (seems to be with DNS lookups, but I haven't investigated). I've used it with the supplied Huawei USB modem and a Novatel U870 (in a MacBook Pro under OS X and Vista).

I found it better for Skype than my 8MB Demon broadband connection at home, but for everything else the 'real' broadband is obviously better. That said, I plan to ditch Demon and stick with this. I've used it on the train (from Liverpool to London) and the connection was reasonble to about Crewe, then went down to GPRS/EDGE until about Watford.

Default 3 Usb Modem - 21-10-07, 10:37 AM

Purchased This Neat Little Device Yesterday After A Few Days Of Debating Whether Or Not It Would Be Value For Money And More So If The Connection Speeds Would Be Fast. At First I Thought It Would Be Annoyingly Slow. However, I Had A Little Tester At The Three Store, Went Onto Some Websites That Have Loads Of Graphic Contents And Hey Presto The Website Popped Up Straight Away Without Any Delay. Onto My Second Day Now With This Modem. Been On To Youtube And Skysports To Play Video Content And It Came Up Trumps. No Delays And Breaks. Seriously Would Recommend It To Anybody. £15 Per Month And Just £70 For The Device. No Bt Line Set Up Charges, No Line Rental, Its Cheap As Chips Really. Obviously If You Live Out In The Sticks, Its Like Anything Else Really, It May Not Be As Affective Due To Poor Signal Strength. Just Go Into The 3 Store For A Test Run Before You Buy!

I'm not very impressed to be honest, i connect for five mins and then it cuts off, when it say's it's connected to hsdpa everything is fine super quick, but then if it isn't wont load anything at all. If I were you the best thing to do is order it, try it and if you're not impressed use there 14 day no quibble return policy. If anyone knows how to get it to work when it's not connected to HSDPA can you please let me know, then it would be worth keeping as i'm just using it on the move.

Since my earlier post I've been getting more and more frustrated with 3's service. I have a good signal and the HSDPA light is pretty much always on, but the speeds and delays over the past few weeks are making it near impossible to use. I've gone from being a happy customer thinking of ditching his 'real' broadband, to just just plain angry about how crap it is.

Lightbulb 3 Broadband - 01-12-07, 02:16 AM

I got this service about 3 weeks ago and for the first week or so was getting around 40K/s download speeds so I moved my pc closer to the window and It has increased to average 70K/s, when I initiate a download it can be as high as 400K/s for a second or 2 then it drops pretty quickly back to 70-80K/s , techinical support say that round the middle of next month (december) they will be providing individual users with the advertised speed of 2.8meg for the turbo connection, I`m looking forward to that, also I can`t work out how to set port forwarding on the modem, I think its impossible and that I am behind some kind of proxy as rapidshare and megaupload etc think that I am either already downloading a file or that I have exceeded my allowence even if I haven`t used them for weeks, I think its a brilliant idea and when they sort the service out I think it will eventually take over the need for landline broadband just as mobile phones are replacing landline phones, I hope it gets better fast as I signed up for a 24 month contract to get the modem free.
