Smile Broadband with a UK call centre? - 28-05-08, 05:29 PM

I was with Tiscali until last year but got so frustrated at speaking to a call centre in Dehli. it was a case of they couldn't understand me and i couldn't understand them that i'm no longer online at home.
Am looking to join up again with a new provider but am wary as i don't know what companies use call centres abroad.
I heard BT only have call centres in the UK but when I called them this morning they said 2% of calls do get transferred to call centres abroad.
Can anyone advise me please?

I don't believe BT that only 2% of calls go to India. I moved house three months ago, and have nothing but hassle from BT - every call goes to (or they call me from) India. I make that 100% to India.

Thats why i dont call any call centers very often

Cant understand them most [[all]] the time

I have had the same with Orange and i was also with Tiscali before I think all companies that have call centers are abroad.

Our call centre (and most of the company!) is based in Sheffield, so if you can understand the Yorkshire accent you'll be able to understand us.

You Say "most" of the company is based in sheffield, so which parts are not?

Hi Matthew,

In Sheffield we have our CSC, Networks dept, Dev team, HR, finance etc. We also have outsourced some development to Poland and India, have a read of the blog here for more info on that.

Thanks, Nice To Know, Not Many ISP's Give Information Like That Out.

I Was Just Wondering Do The Staff At The CSC, Read Everything Of A Screen? Like Someone Calls, Tells Them There Problem, Then They Type It Into A Pc, And It Gives Them There Answer. I Like It When They Dont, Just Tell You What They Know, Then If They Cant Solve It, Look On A Pc, And Tell You That They Are, Im With Tiscali, Had Many Problems In The Past, Must Of Called, At Least 6 Times, Over A Year, Once Though, I Got To Speak To Some1, Who Accutllly Did What I Said, Gave His Knowlege, Then Looked On A Pc, Took A Bit Longer, But That Was The Only Time I Have Said Thanks, Why? Because, He Sorted My Problem Out, Once And For All, Never Had A Problem Since, Now The Contracts Has Past, Im Free To Move ISP.
