Default Avoid BT at your peril. - 09-10-07, 02:39 PM

I have had a bad experience with BT. The customer service is appalling and they tried to charge me £650 to get reconnected after my landlord got some cowboy builders in who cut the cable, didn't tell me about it, disappeared, even though BT are actually responsible for everything external to the house up to the point of telephone connection!?!?!?
Yes folks thats right £650 to connect a cable from a telegraph pole to my house, it took ten minuets and they tried to charge me for 2 hours work, that was the main cos apparently, all I can say is that I'm obviously in the wrong job if the going hourly rate is £325 per hour?!?!.

Thanks

Yes, BT are a rip off!

They have been the most expensive service ever.

My monthly broadband and telephone bills are always at least £100 per month even though the broad and service is never on. The broadband telephone was supposed to be free and they have been charging me to use that on top of the expensive £100 per month bill - then they tried to tell me to buy myself out of the remaining 6 months broadband contract I'd have to pay my up front quarterly charges (sept - Dec) of £150 for both the landline and broadband services, plus £161 to cut my service. So basically I've been asked to pay them over £300, to get rid of them. To get this information I have had to spend over 4 hours of being put on hold and have had to called 4 different numbers and they still have refused to take the money from me, as I now have to put in "a special broadband disconnection" call. I have asked to be put through to their complaints department numerous of times and of course was put on hold for over 30 mins, where I obviously got fed up and never got through to complaints - I have complained and have told them I'm am going to the citizens advice bureau and the change of their attitude was remarkable - they are now looking into reducing the bills i have received and want me to speak to them tomorrow before I get them to FINALLY cut me off!!
