Default Virgin connection unreliability - 02-05-08, 11:29 AM

Two problems.

1. Very often I can't connect to perfectly normal sites (BBC, Google, Yahoo etc), then 5 minutes later I can. I never had that problem on NTL dial-up, so I assume it's the fault of Virgin broadband.

2. Sometimes 3 or 4 times a day Thunderbird forgets my password when I'm trying to send emails. I checked the cause of this. It happens because a "design feature" (i.e. bug) in the otherwise excellent Thunderbird means it can't cope with it trying to connect to a server if that server is down. I'm hoping that Thunderbird will fix that bug -- but the problem is caused by Virgin broadband being so unreliable.

Anyone else met anything similar?

Talking Virgin connection problems - 31-05-08, 08:12 PM

Hi

I upgraded to a higher Virgin bb package towards end of last year as I was sick of having connection problems which only started then. Hasn't made any difference. Every day the connection is unreliable, with pages either not loading at all or freezing. So frustrating I've had enough of being a loyal customer and I'm looking elsewhere. Done a speed check today and it's averaging less than 1 mbps when it should be up to 8. What a load of c***p I'm paying good money for!
